How do you feel about the microphone when you’re presenting?
You know what they say… if you’re afraid of your fear, the best thing to do is… run! No, just kidding. if the microphone makes you uncomfortable… do whatever you can to get comfortable.
The more comfortable you feel using the stage equipment before you get up to present, the more confident you’ll feel while you’re presenting. So my advice is: buy a microphone. A plastic one. Or a sparkly one. Or a gold one. And practice. In the mirror. Play around. Does it feel good to hold it? Do you like it closer to your mouth? Or further down? Work out the most natural and best position for you.
It helps in 2 key ways: 1. When you present you won’t need to think about what to do with the microphone because you’ve already found your groove. And 2. I’ll bet the more you practice using it, the more you’ll learn to love it!
Today’s action step is: Learn to love the microphone!
